“Fear stifles our thinking and actions. It creates
indecisiveness that results in stagnation. I have known talented people who
procrastinate indefinitely rather than risk failure. Lost opportunities cause
erosion of confidence, and the downward spiral begins.” - Charles Stanley

1) To summarize the quote, it is really saying that fear tends to overcome our beliefs. We want to succeed but succumb to fear because we are afraid of failure.
ReplyDelete2) Based upon my experience, this means to me that if you want to succeed in life, you can't give up because you are afraid that you are going to fail. You have to push forward no matter what the outcome is. If you do not succeed, get up and keep trying.
4) The video and the quote are similar because they both talk about how everyone gives up their dream because they picture failure in their minds. People want to apply to college, but fear that they will not get in so they succumb to fear. We want to make a big speech, but fear that we will mess up and everyone will laugh and stare at you. The video talks about how people are going to fail, but they have to die trying. The quote talks about people giving up because fear is taking over our thoughts and actions. The two differ because the video has a slightly different message. E.T. was talking about how people will want to critique your every move, so ignore then and do whatever you believe in. The quote, on the other hand, talks about how people will procrastinate so they will not fail. They would waste their time and do the work last minute so they would not fail.
5) Ultimately, this matters because you can not let failure change your mindset in life. if you believe that you can accomplish something, go for it! There are so many people in this world that will want to discourage you because they think that your dream is not realistic. As long as you believe in yourself, your dreams can come true. Maybe if you want to fly without wings, maybe then that is impossible. For example, if you want to go to Harvard, but people out there think that you are stupid and will not stand out from other applicants, ignore their negative comments and do whatever you believe in. You can apply to that college and rub it in the faces of the people who doubted you when you get accepted. Even if you don't succeed at first, you have to stand up and keep trying. If you don't, you will just let failure seep into your mindset and you will never be able to get anything done.
I can apply the concepts to my life to make it better by always completing my work, even if failure is ahead. As long as I try, my hard work pays off. If I have a project that is worth half of my grade and is due tomorrow and I haven't done any work, I will work as hard as I can. Even if the writing is not my best work, I still worked hard and didn't let the failure take over me. I didn't doubt myself and not do the work because it wasn't worth it. And in fact, this has happened to me, but I do not want to let my grade plummet into a black hole. I might not get an A+ like I always do, but getting a B is still better than failure and getting a F. As long as I can get the work done, no matter the circumstance, I will not fail because I have dreams that I want to come true.
1. The quote is, in brief, an explanation of the way fear stops us in our tracks, forcing us to become more indecisive, leading the way to lost opportunities. When you're unable to make the progress and meet the opportunities you want, we become more self conscious of our skills.
ReplyDelete2. By my own experience, this quote is very relevant to a student's life. We fail a few times and become very afraid of being wrong or messing up. in my English class, i have friends who refuse to answer questions or even ask about what they don't understand because they are scared of being "stupid". Risking failure helps you learn, because you understand your mistakes, and know how to improve from them-- but what if you don't fail? Taking that chance is the first step, otherwise you'll be stuck in the same spot forever.
4. The quote and video are very similar, both emphasize the concepts of failure and fear. Fear protects us from making mistakes, but at the same time, it keeps us away from making progress or opening us up to opportunities. Colleges won't accept you if you don't apply, and nothing will happen if you don't take any chances and stay in a safe little bubble. The video asks the question "Who will I be letting down if I don't carry the weight of responsibility?", while the quote dares you to think about why you are stuck, why you aren't making progress.
5. This matters, especially from an student's perspective, because many let fear control how much they study, if they take the SATs, even deciding to apply to college. A person can spend so much of their life working up to (ex: schooling, training) something, only to be too scared in the face of the challenge to even try it. If you won't do something at all, then there's zero chance of something good happening to you. We love to be right, but sometimes you have to face that you can't be perfect 100% of the time and take a chance anyways. Make mistakes and learn from them rather than sitting around saying nothing good happens to you. Making mistakes gets us away from the fear, and gets us ready to take on bigger things as opportunities are handed to us.
As a student, I have learned these lessons first hand. It fascinates me to see myself know the answer, but fear being wrong in a class full of students who fear the same thing. We are raised to want that seal of approval, and as honors students all working towards the same goal, it's embarrassing to mess up. I'm slowly teaching myself that being wrong is okay, but also that I need to improve from what I am before, then assess how i can make myself better. I want to get into college and get out of Lawndale, so this lesson needs to be learned quickly. Even my acknowledgment of my fear to this point in time is an improvement from before, proving that learning as you go is absolutely a form of self improvement and will help you towards your ultimate goals. I'm trying to let go of that fear forever, but I know it will not be easy.

ReplyDelete1. In my opinion i believe the quote is trying to say that people fear of something so they stop believing in them self's and they stop. 2. To me this means that if something gets to rough for somebody they stop. Its not going to be easy if it was easy everyone in the world would do it. But since its hard people sometimes end up believing its impossible. 4. The video and the quote are alike because their are people that give up on there dreams and you should fight for whats yours and what you believe you can achieve. Set some goals for your self don't let the people and the surrounding bring you down. In the video E.T purpose is to motivate you and telling you that people are gonna judge you no matter what even if your the nicest person. Someone always decides to say something bad even if you didn't do anything wrong. 5. This matter because there are people that quit just because of there surroundings. Someone says something to them and they get so emotional and after that they give up. You shouldn't be giving up that easily block out the haters and don't let them get to you. You move and prevent stagnation go along forward and don't let nobody i mean nobody tell you what you can achieve and what you cant achieve. Everything is possible all you have to do is believe in your self and succeed and surpass. You can apply this by your life first by achieving something and not letting nobody tell you what to do. Secondly, choosing the right friends can sometimes motivate you them telling you to keeping on going. Persuading you into a good lifestyle and how Brother Home say "Sucker Free". Everyone should do this to believe and to finish completing there dreams and if they haven't completed it to continue. Finally you can apply it by letting family know you want to achieve and go for more something that will help and not let be down and depressed
ReplyDelete1. The quote summarized is that Fear takes over our actions. It makes us indecisive but its better to make the decision of taking the risk than to loose a good opportunity.
ReplyDelete2. Based on my experience this means that you should just take the chances and see what will happen because you never know if that risk you take can change your life. I know how it feels to making a decision for our future because now that I am in high school all the teachers say that you need to make your own decisions because your gonna be an adult pretty soon and you cant listen to other people anymore.
4. The video and quote are similar because they both talk about fear. For example the video says to not let your fears stop you. The quote is talking about how your fears take over what you do. The video and quote are different because some of the video talks about how to get out of laziness you need to create a sense of emergencies. The quote talks about how some people risk failure.
5. The quote and video matter because its telling you to do take risks and to see where it takes you. Also it matters because a lot of people let there fears take control of their body. And they don't want to take the chances they have. From my own experience I have let my fears take control of my body. For example when I have some good ideas I am afraid to share them because then I feel like people are going to judge me or something. Some other times I have let fear take control of my body is when I have the correct answer in a class but I am afraid to say it because I don't like public speaking.
Some ways I can apply the video and quote to my life is when I think that something can bring good opportunities I should take the chance and do it. Another apply the video and quote to my life is when I am doing my homework or classwork. I should try my hardest because if I try hard I will get good grades. Then that will bring me to good university opportunities. Another way I can apply these concepts to my life is by stop letting fear take control of me. I should just take risks because it could change my life in a very
good way.
1) I think this quote can be summarized by saying that fear is what stops people from chasing their dreams. It is the courageous few that get to succeed because they had a powerful mindset and did what they wanted to do no matter how hard it was or how long it took.
ReplyDelete2) Based on my experience, this means that we should not be afraid of the unknown. The unknown is only frightening to us because we have no idea what could happen, but as an optimist, I only expect to gain something from it. I think we should all be willing to take risks, not just for the benefit of ourselves, but also for the benefits of others to let them know what you experienced for yourself.
3) *view in person*
4) The video and the quote are similar because they both talk about how fear stops us in our tracks when it comes to doing something you have never done before. They also state that fear is a main factor in the barrier for reaching success to many people and how procrastinating is only a way to be lazy. They differ because the video talks more about being courageous and overcoming your fears while the quote brings up the ways fear can affect you negatively.
5) This matters, to me, because I do not want to live my life in fear of what could happen. I want to live my life knowing I tried doing things no one else would have the courage to do, not only for the benefit of my curiosity, but also for the sake of others'. I would rather have risked everything and lost it all instead of never risking anything at all. I believe life should be full of risks so you can make mistakes and learn from them. Personally, I think those lessons will help you become a wiser person.
I can apply these concepts to my life to make it better by overcoming my fears of the unknown. Usually, I will take the risk of being the first person of doing something or being the leader of a group as I do not see any problem in doing so. On the contrary, though, I sometimes have a problem with public speaking. I can speak loudly and clearly but the problem is that it is hard for me to make eye contact with the audience I am speaking to and the inability to stop moving. I always have to wiggle my toes or move my legs or move my body in some sort of way to keep from shivering in fear of the eyes staring upon me. Lately, I have been getting better at staying still and I will continue to work on this fear of mine so as to become a great public speaker.
1)It means that fear makes us stay in one place. We need to overcome that fear to move on.
ReplyDelete2)It tells me that we shouldn't stop doing what we're doing. We should keep moving forward
4)The video and the quote are similar because both say that you should never quit. Both are different because the quote says what will happen to you if you stop continuing with your life. The video talks about what to do to make your life better.
5)This matters to me because it improves my life choices. It clears my mind and make me focus on what I have to do, to overcome fears. If I don't overcome fear, I will never make progress. I will stay in the same position I'm in right now. This will make me a failure.
I can apply this concept to my life to make it better by motivating myself in doing whatever I want. The motivation will keep me going on my work. I will have no excuse for anything. I will accomplish anything. If I get rid of fear, the gates of my future will open.
1. The quote means that you should decide on you want to do. It is about being confident on what you do to be successful.
ReplyDelete2.Based upon my experience this will help me be confident and be decisive. I think this means that I should make things easy and not make it difficult.
4. The video and the quote is similar because they are encouraging you to be confident in what you do. The video explains about being responsible and try for things that you would want to do. The quote is explaining that you should be confident about what you do to be successful. They both are different because the video is talking about trying and the quote is about confidence. Trying and being confident is important in life to be successful.
5. This matters because trying is the best way to be successful. For example when you are taking a hard test you have to try hard because trying is the best strategy to use when you are doing something something difficult. Being confident is also important because you have to feel comfortable when you are doing something. When you want to be confident with something you have to feel confident on what you decide to choose. You should always be confident on what you choose because you might chose the right idea or thing.
I can apply the concept to my life to make it better by doing the right thing. Trying, being responsible, being decisive, and being confident are things you should succeed in life. These are important in life because this will make you succeed in life and school. Sometimes I am confident because I want to make the good choices. I am very responsible on many things like homework, classwork, and notes that I took in class. You should always be successful by trying hard, being confident, responsibility, and being decisive on things.
1. This quote means that fear is the one true thing that will stop us from achieving what we want. Fear itself outgrows everything else. The only way to stop that fear, is to have courage. The courage to face that fear, and make that fear an attribute. Missed opportunities can and will result in failure and cause you to lose focus on everything else.
ReplyDelete2. Upon my experience, this means that you shouldn't let fear stop you from doing great. I have been stopped from achieving my goals by fear a lot of times. Fear is an enormous obstacle to bypass and takes a lot of work and effort to take it down. Courage is one of the attributes needed to not let fear get to you.
4. The video and quote talk about how fear shouldn't stop you in any way. Fear should be afraid of you and not the other way around. They differ because the quote says that once fear gets to you, there is no getting past it, and "the downward spiral begins." The video says the same thing, but instead the video says that you can and will get back from fear and you will knock it down with courage.
5. This matters because people always stop trying to reach their goals because of their fears. But, in reality, there is really no way to avoid fear. It is something you have to fight off. The quote and video tell us how fear can easily overcome us. But they also tell how to fight fear and how to bypass it while completing our goals. I feel that what people need is courage, just like the video said, and not be afraid of what will happen if they do this or that. Fear is just an illusion, in some sense.
I can apply this to my life because, like many others, I have been afraid of a lot of things. I'm afraid of being judged by how I speak, how I dress and look, and overall afraid of expressing myself. I have been improving on not being afraid in these fields, but I still need work to do. The video and quote taught me that it is ok to be "out there" expressing myself. The video tells me that it doesn't matter what other people say, or what the outcome of my actions will be. What matters is overcoming your fears and being able to turn them in attributes to help you become a better person.

ReplyDelete1) What the quote means is that fear is just a option. You could take the option or die trying.
ReplyDelete2) This means to be that I have to stop thinking about fear. And just do it.
3) Notes
-At lest die trying
-My fear is not going to stop me
-It is our responsibility
-Their are thing that is important, very important, and not important
-The way to get out of lazy is to create a sense of emergency
-Indecisiveness can't make our ind
4) They are similar because it is talking about motivation. To at least try. Another thing is that is talking about fear.
5) This matter to me because I want to be motivated. I would not let fear to stop me. Another thing is that i wouldn't let people to stop me about quitting. I would at least die trying. The last thing is that those lesson will help me to become a better person.
I can apply these concepts to my life to make it better by to make me more motivated. Motivated will make me work more harder. I will just have to do it. I will not have to miss any opportunities that it will be important to me. And all the fear i'm going to face it will make will more stronger.
1.what the poem ment was some people said that some task cant be done but it may be true but not always. There are thousands of people that are going to tell you you wont be able to do that but you can prove them wrong.
ReplyDelete2.In my experience I know there are people out there that don't what you to become successful because they can't do it.My 2nd grade teacher told my am never going to be good at reading, but now i read better that the other kids in my class and I saw her two weeks before high school and I showed her my scheduled and i got honers English.
4.The quote and the video are similar because they both state that there are always going to be haters , people that will say things about what you what to accomplish. They know that you can but they don't want you to accomplish something that has not bin done before. There for I can say the sate that the only person that you need to ask no one but your self about what you what to be . But they are also different because the video says that the only fear you have is feller and the quote said that you can prove people wrong even if they make fun of you or tell you thing you don't want to hear. This leads me to concluded that the video and the quote have more in common that difference.
5.This is a very important topic , why you may ask well because many kids , parents , guys , girls , men , woman etc. ,they struggle because they are jugged by other people in what they want to be. This applies to my life because when I was in second and third grade teacher and my other class mates called me" dumb". Why because I had low grade and never did my homework . I got bullied a lot called names and they called my ugly. And my mom told me you have to start putting effort in school. I said okay and that school year witch was 5th I did better. And when I went to middle school I got even better 8th grade I got honor roll the I showed my old teachers from elementary school. They told me the biggest lie ever ,They said "i always believed in you". And I realized there will always be haters and fake people . No matter what. And am still learning my grandma said am never going t join a club soccer team and I did . Those are some thing that make life hard ,people who bring your self confidence down because they wish there were just like you.
These are why you don't say bad things to your self because you will stop believing in your self believe in your self. And that's not it you ask people for there opinions and they tell you negative thing if they don't like your they don't think you smart or strong . And if they support you then you have someone at your side to support you in what you want to become. That's how I can apply it to my life and how I live to be responsible and don't listen to people to that will give you bad comments and if you need help in life tell some one you trust .Don't ask other people for there opinion they will tell you other thing depending on the person.
1. In Summary, the quote is saying that if you never take a risk, you'll never progress. If you don't take the risk, you will dwell on other's success who had taken the risk.
ReplyDelete2. Based upon my experience, I had the chance to apply to CAMS, because I was one of the selected few. In a group of 40~ or so. The women who were speaking on behalf of CAMS were saying how not many people apply, whether it be them "being lazy" or "not wanting to" and one of the other options they spoke about was that they were afraid of failure. I really fell under that category, because I was afraid of what the councilor might say or what my parents would say if they saw that I didn't get in, so I didn't apply.
4. The video and the quote are similar, because they both speak of fear. They leave you to believe you're scared. Scared of failing. Scared of messing up, or making a mistake. They make you want to never leave your comfort zone. Unfortunately, the only things that really help you progress is stepping out, being afraid, but not letting it get to you. So long as you don't let this get to you, you'll truly progress.
The video and the quote are different, because the quote was simply talking about generations of being unable to do it, no one truly putting in effort to do whatever the man did, but the video was talking about how ET had a shift in mindset. He had to make certain things an emergency in order to start really getting anywhere.
5. The concepts of the video and quote matter because there will be people that will tell you you can't. There will be times when the responsibility will catch up and you'll be afraid. You can either listen to the people and admit defeat, or you can listen to yourself and truly do it. You can either be afraid of the responsibility or you can just keep progressing with your dreams. You have several choices, but it's really up to you to make the right ones.
I can apply these concepts to my life (and already have) by simply going out and doing it. As said in the quote "Fear stifles our thinking and actions. It creates indecisiveness that results in stagnation." I applied this quote to my life in many ways. I've gone out of my comfort zone, and spoke with the coach about joining football. I have very rarely ever gone out of my way to join a club/team sport, but never in my scrawny life have I ever thought I would join football. I didn't want to stay stagnant at home, so I joined.
1. The very first opportunity you have, take it then rather waste it on other things that you don't really need.
ReplyDelete2. In my opinion, this means that there's sometimes that you're being indecisiveness and just staggering thoughts to yourself then rather doing the right thing for yourself. Trying to reach that goal in mind that you have wanted to succeed in your entire lifetime.
4.The video and quote are the same because they both talk about being productive and getting up and do something important. The video basically talks about how people are taking a break from work and there not doing anything instead of doing important things that your wife left you or your daughter forgot her homework. With the quote, I can differ because there're many people that always say there going to do it but really they don't do it at all.
5. Honestly, this is kinda important because sometimes in life you're going to face situations where your like should I do it or not. This I can apply to my life because I usually do it with some people. These concepts can or sometimes can make some lives better but that's if you're doing the right thing and actually doing what's important to you. These are typical facts on why some of this can be useful or not in life. If you continue to be indecisiveness then your just staggering a lot of things on one another.
If your feeling way too confident you shouldn't because you can lose opportunities because of erosian. You shouldn't be procrastinating because all that's doing is putting you in risk of failure. Procrastinating is like being indecisiveness and making stuff up. Theres a lot that goes on in life that makes us procrastinate. These are ways that putting this in m life can make it good and bad.

1) Summarizing this quote by saying you have to make your mind up you cant just say you are going to do something but never do it and give up on what you want to do.
ReplyDelete2) That there is many ways to fail. But their is also many ways to succeed. Also that we have to think harder and we could become something in life.
4) The video is saying what if he would have stop trying? But at least die trying
Don't give up on what you want. The qoutes says there is many ways o fail but also succeed .
5) This could help me get my life better by thinking like that now. Because I have to learn how to not make so many mistakes. I can't give up on something that it's to hard I have to keep trying and do my best in it so I could be successful.
1.In my opinion this quote means the more you keep working on the thing that you want, you will get that object and more you ever believed.
ReplyDelete2.In my own experiences with this, this means to me that the more I work in school and the more I study for quizzes and tests the more I will get out of it which is good grades and appropriation from my parents.
3.Some similarities between the video and the quote are they both talk about how you should always try and keep working towards the the thing you most dicier. It also talks about how you should never give, to keep trying no matter how things look as you are close to finishing you should never give up.
4.This is very important to your life because if you always give up on the things you love and dicier, you will get no where in life because you are doing nothing and wasting time imaging what you could be doing instead doing it.Also it talks about how you should always do thing for yourself and never ask people to do it for you.

ReplyDelete1.In my own words this means that when people want to do something they mostly stop trying because they are scared to fail.Failure is like a border that stops people from accomplishing many things.
ReplyDelete2.This means that some people have the capability to do something but they are so scared to fail they don't.You'll never know if your good at it until you try it.No matter if you fail get back up and try to get better.
4.The video and quote are similar because they both tell us to go get what we want out of life.It tells us to not let anyone or anything hold us back. The difference is that in the quote it tells about just fear of failure and not becoming your best. While the video tells us to reach for the best,we never know what missed chances will affect others. For example if you don't try in school, when your mom gets older how are you going to have the money to take care of them?
5.This matters because a lot of people don't get things done for simply hearing or talking about the word fear. Its like a barrier that hold people back from their true potential.Fear is just a word, people should not let that hold them back.Once people over come fear it's a much better feeling then failing.People are so afraid of looking bad around others that they would do anything to not give a bad impression. Most times when those people try their hardest to give a good impression you can tell that they are nervous or just acting different
I can use this in my life by overcoming my fear of meeting new people.I kind of get shy talking to completely new people i'm not comfortable around yet.Another fear I have is in basketball practice when I practice with varsity I get nervous to play because i'm afraid of messing up.By overcoming fear this will make me better in both of those things.I just have to think about the good things I could get out of them.As time goes by I just have to concentrate on the things I want to talk to them about and not anything else. There are many strategies I can use to over come this fear. For example when i'm talking to them, image them as your mom or someone you talk to everyday.Another one you can do is avoid making a lot of eye contact, eye contact can sometimes make things awkward.
1. If you don't take a risk, you won't be able to make a progress. If you have an opportunity you have to risk it and take it.
ReplyDelete2. Based upon my opinion what this means to me is that you have to take a risk in order to get opportunities. You have to be willing to give it all you have.
4. The video and quote are similar because they both talk about fear. They both talk about haters. Haters say that you wont be able to accomplish certain things when you actually can.
Haters don't want you to be successful in life. They are similar because they both talk about motivation.
The video and quote are different because the video talks about how ET has a shift in mindset. He had to make certain things an emergency in order to start getting anywhere. ET says that your fear is no longer going to stop you, you will die trying. You will not be stopped before you try. The quote, in the other hand talks about how losing opportunities causes destruction of confidence.
5. This matters because anything is possible if you put the effort into it. You cant let fear and failure change your mindset in life. Believe that you can make your dreams come true you just have to put the time and effort into it. Success is responsibility that you have. No one can stop you from success unless you let them.
I can apply this to my life because many people say I won't be able to do certain things but I don't listen to them I ignore them and go do what I have to do to proof them wrong. I have to believe in myself to make my dreams come true. No matter who says I can't accomplish them. I know I'm going to have more responsibilities but it's going to be worth it. You can't let failure change your mindset.
