Today we will focus on the question, "Who am I as a person?"
This post will count as a TEST for 50 points!
As you take notes, perform analysis, and write your response, make sure you are thinking deeply about who you are becoming. Consider this, will you want to live in the house you are building?

- Watch video and take detailed notes: BUILD YOUR HOUSE
- Based upon your experience, what does this mean to you? [2-3 Sentences]
- Compare the poem and the video. How are they similar? How are they different? What similarities do they share? [3-7 Sentences]
- Summarize the messages of both the poem and video in your own words? [1 Paragraph]
- What is an area of your life that you would like to make a change in? [2-3 Sentences}
- What would it look if you actually changed this area or your life? Describe the change in detail. [1-2 Paragraphs]
- Why does the message in the video and the poem matter to you? How can you apply the principles to your life to make it better [ 1 -2 Paragraphs]
2. Based upon my experience this means to me that, however you construct your life it will affect the outcome. You can expect to do super bad in school and then after school you make so much money. No, you have to put more than your 100% like 120% to be successful and have a great life.
ReplyDelete3. They are both similar because they both talk about their life and how they want to be successful. People don't to be average but they choose to go through those bad habits. Their taking shortcuts when they can do a little bit more and do better in the objective. So for the video the guy that asked him to make a house and he would supply him with anything no type of resources that he wouldn't pay. So he supplied him with everything and the guy didn't give his 120% but really he was building his own house the man who supplied him didn't give him instructions so the designer got lazy. They also differ because the poem is talking more about your overall life and how not to be average and the video talks more about how you will build your dream house.
4. To summarize, the video they both talk about your life in different ways though. One talks about how you should strive for the best and not be average. The other one talks about you building your dream house and not to cut and do shortcuts. Don't whats easy and not to effective do whats hard and effective. If you do this your life will be successful because you did the extra. Like Mr.Nunley said that "what the difference between ordinary and extraordinary" Kids replied "what?" "The extra in it"-Nunley he said this because it is true and everyone knows it. The more extra you put into your life well good extra it will help you out.
5. I would like to change my school part of my life because it needs a bit of help. I have a 2.9 GPA because i have 2 C's that i would want to change because it is affecting my home life. My parents well mainly my mom she is getting angry with my because she doesn't think i put enough effort which she is right and i should change that
6. If i changed this part of my life my mom would be so much happier since i have an older sister that just graduated this year from high school i am trying to do better than her. I want to set high goals for my self but my parents are going beyond because they want for me to do better than my sister because she is at UC San Diego which is a really good school. So my parents expect for me to do better or do the same as she can my parents are working there butts off. To help us out as much as they can but i'm not so from now on i need to put my 120% effort.
DeleteAlso it would just change everything overall they see i have all A's and B's they will be splendid and so excited for me because then they know i put my 100% effort. But, i still need that other 20% to make it the 120% go to college and be more successful or alike as my sister. My sister is a scholar last year when she was here she was ranked #8 which is insanely good and i'm trying to do alike or even better. She is a role model for me and i just want to be overall successful like her and help out my parents just like they did for me. Also it would change what i get for gifts on my birthdays and Christmas and holidays in general.
7. This video and poem matter for me because it boosted my morale because of what the video says. It just almost completely speaks for me and i want to go on a good path where i can be successful. It also matters to me because it is true and it almost speaks for everybody to. I'm sure almost everyone wants to be successful and have a successful life people want to be able to maintains themselves and still be doing something good in the world. My goals for me is to change the world and effect it and make it good so that people don't have to be stressed out. Also it matters to me because I don 't want to be average I want to be advance I don't want to be that guy that gets so many handouts and they can't supply themselves.
You can apply these principles by allowing your self to do more. Not taking shortcuts in life because their are people that do that, that's probably the reason why their average. They can't be successful as much because their is always gonna be someone that does more. For reason is because they want to be successful they don't want to be that guy that isn't successful they want to be the person who goes above and beyond. Reach for goals and set there goals and after that be continuous doing good.
2) Based on my experience this means that everything you do you will earn what you get. You will have to work hard not give up to earn it Also you will have to make sacrifice. Made sacrifice what you really want. Not other people want about you.
ReplyDelete3) The poem and the video are similar because it is saying that everything you do that's what you going to earn. Another thing is that they are talking to you so you can make greatness. It both help you to be motivated. They are differ because the video is talking about to build you house and the poem doesn't. The video is also talking about to not be average and to not take shortcut.
4) The poem and the video is talking about to be greatness. They want you to succeed. They want you to build you home. Everything you do every decision you are building your home. You will have to be motivated and you will have to work hard and not give up. If you don't live where you going you can restart it. You will have to find greatness in your own. It tells you that you going in the right track if you do all the things that you need to.
5) The arena in my life that I want to change will be is to stop being lazy. I choose that because I want to start what I want to become. I always to lazy to start in it. and if i be like that forever I will not succeed and maybe I will not be even average.
6) If I can actually change the area of my life it will look way better. I will be more confident in myself. I will start all the things that I want in my life. I will more than an average person. I will find more succeed in life. Another thing is that I could help people like my friends because I wouldn't be lazy and not help them. My life would look way better if this actually happen. Another important thing will that I will be more happy. And if I don't will happy about what going on i will have to restart it and make it better.
7) The message in the poem and in the video matter to me because it help me a lot. It help me to succeed. It tells me what I will have to do. It tells me that if you take shortcut you will be average. Another thing that it tells me is that every decision I make your building your home. It tells me that to be motivated and not give up in your dreams. But the most important thing is to succeed.
I can apply the principles in my life to make it better because it is motivated. It is motivated to build your house of your dream. It tells me a lot of thing like I said in the first paragraph. An important thing that I didn't say is that wear whatever is necessary to get the job done. Another thing that I didn't said is that sacrifice the thing that you like to make you dream come true. And also so you can not be average and to succeed in life.
2. Based upon my own experience, this means that whatever it is that you want change in, you have to rebuild it. If you want to change something about your life you have to put in the work and effort to make that change. It means that there is nothing that you cannot change. There is also something you want to change and fix in your life to have a better outcome.
ReplyDelete3. Both the video and poem are similar because they talk about how you have to keep yourself positive in order to successfully live your life. They both talk about how fixing your mistakes and acknowledging them will have a good impact in your life. The poem and quote are different because the video gives an example, a story, of the meaning it is trying to convey. The poem tells you how you should be thinking about yourself and how your mindset should be in order to cause change.
4. In summary, the video's message was that the house you are building now, you will have ti live in it. This analogy is really saying that wherever your life is headed to, that is the life you would to live in, otherwise, there will have to be some change. Your house(life) can also be rebuilt in order to fulfill what you really want, but you have to be ready to put in the work. The poem's message is that you have to keep thinking positive about yourself in order to do positive in your life. It gives you the general mindset you should be in. It tells you to fix your mistakes and learn from them to keep going on the right track and also tells you to keep track of your good qualities.
5. The area in my life that I would like change to take place in is my thinking process. By this, I mean that sometimes I tend to overthink or under think most things. And this really takes a toll on me, especially in my academics. For example, on tests or quizzes, I overthink the problems too much sometimes and end up getting them wrong resulting in a poor or not satisfying grade for me. And when I get back that test or quiz, I see how simple the problem was in respect to my thinking. This also haves outside of academics, like in my own home or when going out. I tend to miss things and overthink or underestimate what I do in some situations.
6. The look that would happen if I did make the change would be me becoming a smarter person in general. It would look like me not being so complex and become simpler in doing things. What will need to happen to make this change is to become better at analyzing what is actually going and analyze the simplest way in doing things so I do not overthink or under think. This of course will take some time, but it can be done. This change will change the "house" I would live in dramatically.
7. The messages in both the poem and video matter to me greatly. They matter to me because the messages they put out are very real and true. They make me think how my life decisions right now can greatly effect my life later on. It teaches me that the mindset I have everyday reflects my attitude for life overall. Meaning, if you think more positive then negative then your life would be more gracious. Of course you really can't be positive for every single things, but for most things you can be. These concepts are really meaningful. Not just for me, but for everyone. These concepts can be applied to pretty much everything in my life from simple things like how I should dress to things like how I should manage my money later on. These concepts really make you think how much you can really effect your life. It makes you think about your decisions. It also makes me think how every part of my life is crucial and I should not go down a pathway that will build be a poor house. The right path is your dream house and the bad path is barely having a house.
2) In my experience, what you do and the decisions you make sticks with you for the rest of your life. If you put in average effort then you'll live an average life. You will live in the reality you build.
ReplyDelete3) The poem and video both focus on you living the life you want. You are in charge in what kind of life you'll live in. The poem emphasizes more on you being unique and how you and your talents will create a great legacy. You are special in your own ways and you're on the track to greatness and you're running to win. However, the video explains how you control what kind of life you want and your actions build your house. You must put in effort and motivation to earn the good life you want. Nobody wants to be average so put in great effort and strength and you'll earn the life you want.
4) The messages in both the poem and video both focus on the main idea of you and how you affect your life. The poem's message explains you will you use your talents and abilities to create a great legacy. In other words, you'll create the life you want in the future. The video's message promptly emphasizes on the idea on what you do affects your life and the product of your effort and motivation will be your life. Everything you do and say will make your life.
5) I would like to change the way I think about everything. I usually look into the negative things instead of the positive. I'd look to at everything in another perspective instead of the negative way.
6) If I changed this area in my life, then I'll think and act differently about everything. I would think a lot about my actions and ask myself if this will be good or bad. For example, if I was to pick money or love, I'd normally pick money because money is money and you can buy whatever you want with it. If I changed my thinking afterwards, then I'd think about the pros and cons about money and love. Sure money can buy you lots of things, but love can help you go through the tough times as oppose to money.
As I continue to continue through life and start to see myself differently, I'll start changing the ways I do things in a better way. One of the things I want to make better is my thinking. I'd like to think positively, but not always positively. I'd just balance the positive and negative in life so it can be well balanced. If I could tell my future or past self anything, then I'd tell them to keep trying and not to give up.
7) The messages in the video and poem matter to me because I can take what I learned to make my life better. I can start doing good habits now so it can carry on during life. I realized the actions I do affect my life in a big way so I'll probably start thinking more before I act. I also learned that the amount of effort I put into everything will result in an average or great life. I'll start putting more effort into the things I do so I can become a better person and live a happy life.
I can apply the principles to make my life better by putting more effort into the things I do. I'll start doing more work into my classwork and homework so I can have a better understanding into the subject. I'll start studying more so I can do better on tests and quizzes. I'll also start being more organized so I can be prepared for anything. If I start doing good habits and decisions, then I'll live a good and happy life in the future.

ReplyDelete2.Based upon my experience this means you will have to put up with what ever you make out of life. For example if you don't put forth full effort into your grades then you will have to deal with the consequences. What ever you put in will determine what you get out of life.
ReplyDelete3.The poem and video are similar because they both tell you to know your worth. They tell us to know what your capable of and to put forth full effort. They both tell us that we have to set ourselves up for greatness that no one else will. They differ because the video is talking about building an imagination house. The effort you put into that house will determine what it comes out to look like. The poem talks about you finding your worth and when you do give it your all.The poem talks about using the things in your life to get the best out of life.It is saying you have to build your perfect life. The similarities they share are that they both say you have to put forth your full effort in everything you do.
4.In my own words the message of the poem is that you have to put forth your full effort. It talks about putting your full effort to get the nice things out of life. The poem talks about building up and making your legacy, only the one that you can make.No one else can determine your legacy, your legacy will be made off of what you do in life.In my own words the video is telling us we will get what we put into life.So if we put no effort into the everyday things we do there's no point because you're not going to get anything out of it.If you put forth all your effort, then you will have a bright future.Your future is based upon what you do with your life right now.The video also states that as human beings we have to live with what we do in life.If we get bad grades then we will have to deal with the consequences. This is all a part of setting yourself up for success.
Delete5.To start off,an area in my life I would like to change is my effort towards basketball. This is a main concern because this is a thing that will determine my future.Basketball can take a person very far in life.To focus on basketball first, basketball is an important thing to do good in because it's something I like to do everyday and also it can give me a bright future. If I put forth full effort in practice and I cut out all the messing around I do I can get so much better. If I expect to have a good future in my basketball career without working for it,then it will never happen. You can't just wake up one day and expect the world to be in your hands.
Secondly,so can school it can set someone up for good for the rest of their life.School opens people up to the real world,it teaches us many lessons about life.School can take a person very far it can get you a job,a house, even a future.None of those things will come true if you don't try and get good grades in school.School can fill you with much knowledge about life, that is why it is very important to people because it can do many things for you.Although people feel that it is a waste of time,it will all pay off when you have enough money to take care of your family and parents. Those were the two things that are very important to me and that I need to change my effort towards them. They are important because they are the two best things that will get me into a better life.
6.If I changed these areas in my life I would do better in both things.First,if I changed my effort towards practice I would be a lot better then I am right now.I would probably be playing varsity right now as a freshman because i'm good there's just the little things that I need to fix.So if I give my full effort in practice I can fix the little things so that I will be ready for Varsity next year.Next is school,if I changed my effort towards school my GPA would go from a 3.5 to a 4.0.I can change this by studying more,by studying this will help me pass more test.If I get a 4.0 this will help me get into a good college, this will help me because it will make me stand out as having one of the GPA's in my graduation class. Both of my concerns come together because if I do good in both a college will really want to accept me because I'm good at basketball and I have good grades.
Delete7.The message from the video matters because it tells us that we will live with what we put effort into.So if we put no effort into life then we will have nothing in life. The message in the poem matters because it talks about having a purpose and building your own legacy. It talks about setting yourself up for success because no one else will do it for you. They talk about building your future for good because if you're lazy then you will get nothing out of life. The quote talks about knowing your failures and your success' and using them to be great.I can apply this to my life by working hard in everything I do.Everything I do right now as a young person will determine the rest of my life when I get older.I might not think they will affect me but my actions will catch up someday.I can apply this to my life by changing my work ethics. For example in basketball when I'm at a gym alone I work out hard and make the workout meaningful. My struggle is doing the same at practice because my teammates are always playing around.Another way I can apply this to my life is in school. If I change my study habits for the better,my grades will start to go up and I will benefit from it.

ReplyDelete2) What this means to me is that if you do not favor something that is going on in your life, you are going to have to rebuild it. You can't sit around hoping for everything to get better. What you are going to have to do is get up, and build the "house" that you want to live in. Build the life that you want to live and be proud of.
ReplyDelete3) The poem and the video are similar because they both talk about how you need to keep building your life until you are satisfied. I mean to put 120% into your work and not just sit around with 10% of the effort and be satisfied. One similarity that the two share are that they both talk about how you have to pursue greatness and using whatever talent that you have within you to succeed in life. What you "build" is what you are going to have to live with, if that is what you want to accept. To achieve pure greatness, you will tear down that "house" and build it again, putting in the 120% of effort instead of taking shortcuts and being late. The poem and the video are different because the poem talks about both success and failure, while the video briefly talks about failure. The video talks more about what you have to do to succeed. It stays more on the positive side of life, while the poem talks about how you need to acknowledge your failures to be able to get back on track and succeed.
4) The message of the poem is that you need to recognize who you are and that you are not the same as everyone else. You need to remember this because you will not be able to succeed in life if you are believing that you are the same as everyone else. If you do, you will fall of track, and be average just as everyone else. You will fall into a hole of mediocrity, which will cause you to fall behind. One thing that will aid you in succeeding is if you will accept that you will fail many times in the process, but if you accept those failures, you will succeed in life. The message of the video is that if you experience pain on your way to success, you need to embrace is and dominate the pain, instead of succumbing to failure. You need to put in all or your greatest effort, because you are building you house that you are going to be living in for the rest of your life. If you are going to put forward average effort, you will live an average life.
5) An area of my life that I'd like to make a change to would be getting along with others. I tend to be a little stubborn because I feel like these people don't work at the same level that I do. What I have not realized is that people are going to be different, and not everyone can meet my "standards". I have to learn to work well with others because two brains work better than one alone. Other's ideas can actually aid in the process because one person can't know everything.
6) What it would look like if I actually changed this area of my life would be a lot less fights and more agreeing. I tend to take over and not realize it. Other people are always trying to tell me this, but I never listen because I feel that what I am doing is correct and what they are doing is wrong. Now, I have yet to realize this until last year in 8th grade, because people would tell me right in my face. It didn't hurt, because I actually wanted to hear the truth. I often don't speak up because I feel like people won't like me, but I have realized that if people don't like me for who I am, I have others who appreciate me just the way that I am.
ReplyDeleteFor the problem that still continues to "control" me, I plan to stand back whenever I feel that I want to take over because I tend to doubt others that want to help out. This is something that I'd like to stop, but it just seems to pop up, mostly because it is my personality. I can definitely work on this area in my life, correcting myself as I grow up, learning that working with others is actually a good thing. Also, stopping myself of being stubborn all the time is a difficult task, but it is always possible. In your life, nothing is ever impossible because there is always room for change.
7) The message in the poem and the video matters to me because it is showing the key points that you need to use to be able to succeed in life. The video's message is, in my opinion, the more inspiring one because it is telling you that you need to work through the pain and not succumb to it. Nobody wants to be average, so you need to work hard for what you want. One thing that really stood out to me from the video is when ET states, "IF you do not like what you see, if you do not like where you're going, then do something about it." One thing that really stood out to me from the poem is when it states that "I WILL BE GRATEFUL FOR MY SUCCESS I WILL USE MY TALENTS AND ABILITIES TO CREATE A GREAT LEGACY." Both of these are very inspiring because they tell you that you need to be able to go on a track of greatness and not give up. You need to be able to change anything that you don't like in your life, and you can use your talents and abilities to achieve greatness in life. So don't settle with mediocrity.
I can apply these principles to my life to make it better by always striving to be great, and to never settle with something that you didn't apply all 100% of your effort into. You know when you didn't put your effort into something because you feel like your work is okay, and it won't stand out from everyone else's. One thing that is wrong with that is you want to stand out from everyone else because being normal is boring. I live by this because I always put in that extra effort into my work, staying up late to add something extra to a project or homework, waking up early to perfect it. Something that I have learned that also keeps me from succeeding is procrastination. When I procrastinate, I don't get the work done and I settle with okay work. Now that I realize this, I am not building a life that I want to live in later, where I settle with being okay, and not great. I will have to live in what I build. Whatever house I decide to build for my future is most likely the house that I am going to have to live in for the rest of my life, unless I decide that I need some change in my life. So, I will tear down my "house" so I can build it to aid me now and not just for my future.
2) Based upon my experience this means that if i do not like the way i'm living my life then i must do something about it. That i must acknowledge my successes and failures to keep going on and get to the finish line.
ReplyDelete3) The video and quote are similar in that fact that they both talk about success and that it has to be you that makes the shift to success. The video and quote differ because the video talks specifically about rebuilding a part of your life that you don't like and doing something about it. While the quote simply states that in order for you to succeed you must use your strengths and weaknesses.
4) The message of the poem is to tell you that in order for you to become great and succeed you must know yourself well enough. What this means is you have know your strengths and weakness in order for you to take the best path to success. The message of the video is to tell you that if you do not like something in your life then do something about it. Don't just stand there and let it bother you everyday make a change in the problem. If solving that problem makes you happier in life then make a change whether it's a problem with marriage, parenting, school, work, or just about anything there are ways to work around them and fix them.
5) A area in my life that i would like to make a change in would be in school because my current grades are not what i would want them to be. and another area would be the group of friends i currently have because most of my friends are bad influences to me and i'm starting to become more and more like them.
6) If i actually made that change in my life my life would look completely different. For example if my grades were better than i wouldn't have as many problems in school and at home. I would probably have more freedom to go out to places that i would usually not be let to go due to the fact that my parents care about my grades and want me to improve them. If i started hanging out with a different group of friends like one that's fun but doesn't get in trouble all the time for doing things i would not like to discuss in this assignment then it would make my life a lot easier. So that how those changes would affect my life and in truth i actually want to start making these changes.
7) This poem and video matter to me because they can help me change my life for the better. The video matters because it's telling me how i can change my life by acknowledging my strengths and weakness. While the video tells me that if i don't like something in my life then i should make a change. I can apply these concepts into my life by changing the things i don't like an example of this would be the friends i hang out with or my grades. If i acknowledge my strengths and weaknesses and successes and failures then i will be able to take the proper path to successes in my life.
2) Based upon my experience, this means that every decision I make in my life will have major consequences on it. I have known this to be true because many bad decisions I have made so far have come back to haunt me and destroyed the relationship with my parents for a while. On the other hand, when I made good decisions, everything in my life was in order and there was nothing I could complain about.
ReplyDelete3) The poem and the video both talk about how you should strive only for the best in your life. They both mention the way people should want to be above average and give the maximum amount of effort they can put in to their life. However, the poem talks more about how every person is unique and the way they all stick out from each other, in a good way. The video goes into more detail about how you build your life based on the decisions you make in it.
4) The poem motivates you to think about who you are as a person and how you are different from everyone else. It makes you wonder about the great aspects of yourself and about the bad decisions you have made in your life. The video steers its topic more onto the subject of recognizing your faults and doing something to fix them. For example, in the video it says, "You are not a victim of your circumstance, you are a product of your effort." This line of evidence shows how Eric wanted people to understand that they can change the place they are in if they really work towards it.
5) An area of my life that I would like to make a change in is the relationship I have with my family. Since my parents are divorced, there is definitely some tension between the three of us. Particularly, with my father, I feel like I need to be more involved in his life, for the benefit of the both of us.
6) If I were to actually change this are in my life, I feel like my mother would be more agitated when I went with my father because I am her only child, and as she says, she feels alone without me with her. She would be sad to see me go and text me all the time to see how I am doing with my father. On top of that, whenever my dad would drop me off, he would most likely drop me off pretty late, which would make my mother angry because she wants me to have enough sleep, to function the absolute best every morning, every night. Not to mention that my mother doesn't like how my dad always has a new woman with him and she worries that I get a bad influence from this. Although, she doesn't know that I look up to her as the kind of woman I aspire to be.
7) The message in the video matters to me because I need to learn that the type of decisions I make in my life will have major consequences in my life. Be my decisions good or bad, they will definitely affect the results I get from my life, as what kind of effort I put onto the bottom of my life, I will receive back from the top of my life. The message in the poem matters to me because it is important to recognize your individual talents. It is critical to use these abilities to your advantage so that if you are not strong in one area of your life, you can supersede the expectations in another area. I can apply the principles to my life to make it better by remembering the importance of the decisions I make and the unique talents I retain.
2. From my own limited experiences, I know the concept of living in your decisions can be frustrating, but logical. Everything one does eventually adds up to the big picture, meaning that even what seems like just a small slip up can ruin all the hard work you put in.
ReplyDelete3. The video and quote are similar in their messages of putting in effort for the "sum total" at the end. The quote cites, "I will use my talents and abilities to create a great legacy, I am on track to greatness-- I am running to win!" It's fair to say that there's no point to effort if the end result is not wanted, just as the video explains in the metaphor of building a house.
4. The poem's message is mainly putting in your talents and unique abilities to pursue greatness in your life. The image of success differs from person to person, but any who read the poem get the same message. Productivity leads to a product, no matter the result desired. By putting in a realistic view of your own failures and moving forward, results will come. The video explains this same message in an analogy of a house, in which the house is the end product and "building" the house is all of the decisions and effort YOU choose to work towards. The concept of hard work is no stranger to successful people-- they've seen it since the beginning of their school careers. Eric Thomas especially stresses the quote "This is your own home. You built this and now you have to live in it," to further push the metaphor of making decisions that will have both consequences and positive results.
5. An area in my life that I would like to change is time management. Currently, I must do eight hours of community service for school because I did not complete my three hours in September, while I did in October. I have the volunteer work at the library all lined up, and my plan is to get my eight hours done this month so that I can have a solid plan of three and a half hours a month for the rest of the year. I find myself being lazy with the things I do not consider important or in my first few priorities, and suffer the consequences eventually.
6. If I changed the way I manage time, my life would be more organized and become more easy to schedule and plan. I put things off because I don't think they're very important, until they're the last things on my "to-do" list and it's already to late to do them. I care very much about keeping a good record at school, so essays, homework, and all other assignments always have all of my effort in them and are turned in on time, but the things that I must do for myself, like keeping things organized or doing long term projects, like community service, fall to the side because I forget about them.
In theory, making this change would not be difficult: make a schedule, check list, anything to help me remember. The benefits of this change would be clear, because I would have more time and less to worry about. My education is the most important thing I can do for myself, and no one else will do the work I must do, something i learned in the beginning. Going to colleges and seeing the freedom and great intelligence of the students has inspired me since I was very young, and I know that i won't make it there if i can"t keep myself organized and on top of the tasks I plan to do. The change would be having a specific time for specific things and a real plan for each day, each week, each month.
7. The video and poem matter because they give a realistic perspective of the road one takes during their youth and eventually into their adulthood. The analogy of " You built this, now go live in it" gives a stark image of the consequences of your actions, bad or good. Many young people think of themselves as indestructible and do not see the eventual effects of their present decisions, such as their grades, friends, and many other factors. The fact that so many do not graduate high school because they do not see the benefits of a diploma is extremely disheartening, because the long term advantages one can get when presenting a diploma of any kind can be great. Making good decisions in early life, even if not every decision is perfect, can still have positive effects in later life.
DeleteApplying this to my own experience is very simple as I am still a student. I keep up with my grades constantly because I know that they are the only thing that i can do to help myself. The pressures that come with that concept can be overwhelming, but knowing the importance anyways is the most positive way for me to look at my career. I take inspiration from many people and their success, so when looking at the way they got there, they say that the decisions they made young affect them in the long run. Effort and productivity will get me places, so I plan to keep doing what I'm doing.
2) Based on my experience this means that if you do not like the way something is in you life, then you can change it. It is your life, so the things you do wrong, you have the power to fix.
ReplyDelete3)The poem and the video are similar because they both talk about knowing what you failed in and fixing it.They both talking about YOU, not someone doing it for you , YOU have to do it for you.
4) The message being shown in the poem is that you can do great things in life as long as you know who you are and know what you are aiming for. Meaning if you know you want to be great in life you will set yourself up to be great in life, you will do great on homework and on a quiz or test or in your job, but if your only doing average in the work your life will be average. The message being sent in the video is that every thing is on you and how you chose to effort in your things. It also say that if you put in an average effort , You will be average in life. You have the ability to change the way your life is, "if you do not like the way you built your house then tare it down an rebuild it"-E.t.
5)The change i would make in my life is,school attendance. Meaning coming to school everyday in less very ill, because my current attendance is crap.
6)If i wear to actually make this change in my life, my life would improve because my grades would get better and i would be setting my self up to do great in life instead of average.
7)This video matters to me because it teaches me that if you do not like the way you are setting your self up for life , you have the ability to restart and set yourself up better. It also teaches me that nobody want average. I can apply this to my life because it teaches you that you have the ability to set your self up for greatness
2. To me this means that your building your own life from the moment you realize reality to the moment where it changes. It starts from building your personality the person you want to be in life. The person you want to make more then average you want to make it proficient.
ReplyDelete3. The poem and the video are comparable because they both talk about building a great house or living. They are similar because they the video talks about how this one man left his worker the entire job to build the house but later he eventually realized that he wasn't going to be living in it. The quote is similar to the video because it talks about talents and other etc things. The young man used his talents and abilities but didn't put his full effort. There different because the video shows that a young man was building a house for his boss, without no instructions or commands he started to cut corners, started to arrive late to work. he didn't care about making the perfect home for him. The video and quote both share a similarity that Both can acknowledge and those are failure and talents/abilities.
4.To summarize the video and the quote together, it talks about how we can all use are talents to make are own house. Once time passes by you start cutting corners making your house not the proficient you start making it average with not the best stone or the best material to make your house outstanding. I would realize the failures I've put in a home and in my own life by just making it average. Instead in the video is said if you don't like it rebuild it. It takes time to rebuild a whole new life, a whole new living, a whole new you.
5. In area of my life that I would want to make a change would be my study habits. The reason why is because to many things holding me back from my real potential. The wrong people to hang out with, those are the people that hold you back and make you look average, I don't want to be average I want to be proficient.
6. If I change the way of my life by changing my study habits. I would be a whole new person, making wide choices in life. Instead of going out I would be studying for hours and hours. I would be pulling all-night studying just to get the job done and to get the good grade that I want to achieve. Just by studying with no breaks can make my life a whole lot better.
My GPA would sky rocket to the highest point that I never reach a 4.0 or higher. So many things that I would sacrifice just to get good grades and try to get to a good university that I want to go. It would make a really good impact in my life and lead me to many doors to begin building the person I want to live, the person that you are going to be working as. It would mean a lot of effort and not that much of family time and more studying. This would happen if I change my way of studying and it would change my life in a really big way.
7. The message in the video and quote matter to me because it's talking about building a new era in your life. That's what matters to me, trying to make the best living for me. I know who I am, and I know what I do. The quote matters to me because it talks about talents and abilities. This matters to me because I used to have the ability to walk but know I crutch around school with a cast on my right foot.
I felt like failing but then people got me to not give up and to continue trying my best. We shouldn't let something destroy us in the inside if there's no benefit for you. This matters because I should continue to do good in school and to continue thinking of what type of house I want. My ability to walk went away when I broke it during football practice but know I'm going to back on my feet getting my grades up all at once. Trying to make the best and make my life easier to continue pursing my dreams and to continue think what I truly desire to build.
2) Based on my experience , this means that we need to be gladiators. That basically means to be phenomenal , to endure the pain and get the important things done. To be great not average. Being average will get you an average life. Being great will get you a great life. I think that's what we all want.
ReplyDelete3) They're similar because they both talk about knowing ourselves within. They both talk about success and being great. They both talk about creating a great life (legacy). They're different because the quote mainly talks about using your abilities to pursue greatness. The video mainly talks about a story of young man who was very excellent at building houses. And one time when he was asked to build a house he built it but averagely. He didn't put in his all to build the house. He then found out that he was building because the person who asked for him to build the house knew he didn't try as much to build the house. They both share the push for greatness and to build a great life so that you can live in that great life.
4) To me the video and quote is inspirational and releases such a rush of great thoughts about how I want my life to look like. Being great will let you live a great life , being average will let you live and average life. My goal is to be excellent , to be great , so that I can live a very great life. We have to be on the right track , and that track is heading to greatness. They both share the same goal , to be great. Being great is being above average , putting in effort in all that you do. We all have the abilities and were all unique in our own perspective way. So we can all make a great life to live in. We can all make a great legacy as well , we just have to put our minds to it. To sum it all up , basically , try your best in all you do , put in 100% effort in everything you do , and stay on the track to success.
5) I'd like to make a change in my school life , academically. I need to start doing all my work no matter what because it might not look as important right now but it's very important. I need to get my school right and my grades up so that I can be successful. I want to be successful to make my parents and myself very , very happy. In order to do this , I need to change the way that I think about school and the way I pay attention. Change my work ethic , increase commitment , stay committed.
6) It would look much better , my aunt would always be happy with me , my brothers would always be happy with me. My life would change , their would still be some ups and downs but for the most part , it would be much better. I would be a very happy and bright young man. I'd never have to worry about bad grades because I know that I would keep them pretty high. The change would be a feeling like if a miracle has happened. My grades would be high , happy aunt & uncle , happy brothers , happy coaches , better life , hopefully my parents would be happy , and a better me.
The change would make me a way better person. I'm trying now , everyday , to make that change. I know it will be a while and it will take dedication and commitment but I know it will be worth it. It'll open my eyes to all the opportunities and what I can become. This would change my mindset , my behavior , my attitude towards some people. I know that I can make this change because for the better because I've made changes before , I can make another one. Although this change will be difficult , it will be very , very worth it.
7) The message matters to me because it encourages me for the better. It makes me wanna achieve this change so much more. It makes me want to establish high standards. Make high goals for myself to become better. It inspires me to do the best I can in all that I do. Like a tupac song , tupac inspired not only me , but my older brother and i'm pretty sure he inspired others too. His songs were about the truth and how life really is. He opened my eyes to the reality. Quoting tupac he states , " Real eyes , Realize , Real Lies ." I believe this quote and it opened me and my brothers eyes more to see the reality lies.
ReplyDeleteI can apply these to my life by always coming to school ready to learn. Focusing more in school and on homework and classwork more. Start completing all my work. Get and stay on the track leading to GREAT and to be SUCCESSFUL. Start listening more to the teacher , and stop turning in work late. Make sure all of my assignments are done and turned in on time. Remember who I am and that I can be successful and remember who am I doing this for.
2) What this means to me is that if something is going wrong and you don't like it then fix it don't just wait till it gets worst. You have to except that your are doing stuff wrong and you have to learn form them. I always have to believe i can accomplish my future life and i cant let my thoughts ruin them. I could create the next big thing sol that's why i have to do my best.
ReplyDelete3) The video and the poem are similar because they both talk about how we suppose to be great in our stuff we do we cant just be average we need to be great for our future life. We also have to put in our best effort because if you just did average then you will receive an average life. What they have different is that the poem says to be grateful of your success and the video is saying you have to start caring about the future. What they also have in common is that they both tell us that being average is not ok we need to put in our best effort. Many of us we have to pay for what they done in the past and we life the life they deserve in the future.
4) Every decision we make we will live with that decision. We all have to be thankful on our effort we do we cant just leave it like it nothing important. We all have to except our errors because if you don't then later you will keep doing the same mistake and later you will not be able to live your successful live. So if you don't like something in your live then rebuild it and start all our again and try your best on that one if not then do it again until you get it right. If we don't do it right then we will have to live with the life we choose now. so if you don't like where your going right now or if your life isn't the best do something about it. Many of us just need to understand that we cant just put in our average effort in our life we have to but the best to it.
5) I would like to change my attitude towards school what i mean by that its that i like to leave everything to the last minute. But what am learning is that life doesn't work that way for example if i would want a job and they say the application is due on Monday i cant be like i still have time and do it on Sunday night. i have to do it that same day they gave it to me. I need to start getting the habits that life doesn't work that way.
6) I would get better grades in my classes because my grades are normally goes down because i turn them in late. This will help me in the future for i could be successful. i would also want to make my parents proud. i would also want to do better then my sister and i would want to set goals in my life for i could achieve them. And i would love to go to UCSB but i have to get rid of those bad habits first then later i would have to put in all of my effort then i would achieve my goal. So now is the time to leave all those bad habits behind and move on for the better.
7) They matter because they help me understand that i have to get rid of my bad habits. Because they later on life will throw me over. So they could really help me in a lot of stuff so have to understand how to listen to the and be the greatest later in life. i have to follow the good path. Like i said earlier every decision we make we will live with that decision. So we have to know when to make a good decision.
2.Based upon your experience, what does this mean to you? [2-3 Sentences] This means to me to do anything it takes to make your life better. The effort I but in life that's will be my life. some people work harder than others and i want to be one of those people that work hard.
ReplyDelete3.Compare the poem and the video. How are they similar? How are they different? What similarities do they share? [3-7 Sentences]The quote talks about who you are and how we think about us. the video talks about if you but no effort in anything your life will be not how you want it. 4.Summarize the messages of both the poem and video in your own words? [1 Paragraph] The poem it talking about how you think about your self will make you feel better about your self and do great things in life. Use your life and stuff your are great at to build a good live. Also never think you are worthless everyone is meant for something great but if we work hard we will find it faster. The video means the effort you but in will be the outcome of your life. To have the life you want you have to be willing to do anything to it takes. everyone can be successful but not everyone want to work hard for it. Some people don't even try to make there life grate even those they hate there life don't be one of those people. people learn from there mistakes but most people keep doing it over and over like being lazy or don't do the thing you need to what you want you cant be lazy and you cant keep waiting for it to happen you have to make it happen.
5.What is an area of your life that you would like to make a change in? If I have a job and its going to keep my dream job if I don't change my work habit. also if I want to finish college I have to change my life because its not easy it get in and the work its crazy.
Why does the message in the video and the poem matter to you? 3)The poem and video are similar by telling us that we can accomplish things in our lives. It all takes time and effort to start and finish what we want. They are different because the poem talks about pursuing greatness, using you talents to create a legacy and moving forward to greatness. The video talks about a life experience of this person who takes shortcuts and then receives a surprise of knowing that the house he build was his. Both of them share the motivation of getting people on their feet and building their lives.Learn from you mistakes and correct them so later on you will now what to do with that problem.Never let anyone tell you what to do on making your life better.
4)It's not about what you wear it's about how you grind. It's about wearing what is necessary to get the job done.A gladiator approaches, embraces and dominates the pain and risks to make their lives the best of their lives.Ask yourselves"Are you a gladiator?"Fight for everything and take risk's just to have something you've been wanting for many many years, would you do that?Make a path for yourself and if that path get's destroyed, rebuild it.Don't give up and say that it is not your fault you can't continue in life because somebody ruined your path. There is no excuse in making thing better for you.
5)An area I would like to change in my life is in my family and my grades. My dad doesn't get along with me and my brothers that much and I want to flip that around. My grades are bad, which all the grades equal to a G.P.A of 2.9 and I want to change that to a higher grade.
6)Changing my family problems would probably look like having fun together. We would go to the park and travel to other city's,states.have fun learn and about other cultures. We would never have that much problems and we would have a healthier relationship. We would be a much happier family. That's all what it would look like if that would change.
If my grades were higher I wouldn't get in trouble that much.Getting in trouble is the worst because my parents would give me a talk and take all my games and electronic devices away. They would make me read a book all day.The only electronic I would use is my moms computer, but I can only use it to read.It would be the best if that would never happen again.
7) It matters to me because it teaches me that our talents are useful to something. Our talents makes us who we are.Our path is chosen with our abilities, intelligence and uniqueness. We all have different abilities which we develop when growing up.We shouldn't take advantage of our abilities because with that ability,it can take you to where you want to be.The place that you want, the perfect life you want and deserve if you put the time and effort to it.
I can apply this principle to make it better is trough school.I am doing average on schoolwork and that what's affecting my grade.I shouldn't do average,I should do the max I can so I can beat my record.I think of grades as a record and I want to beat every record. If I don't like how my grades look,I should do something about it.I should improve my grade and keep making progress until I am satisfied with it.
1. video notes
ReplyDelete2. Based upon my experience to me the quote and video means that I need to know what you want in life. I need to know what makes me happy and smile. Also, I need to have a detailed plan for my life and I need to make it better all the time. Also, that I need to make my life mean something to me and have a significance. Another thing is that I need to try more on winning and not be okay with loosing. I also have to use my talents and abilities to make a better future for myself. The video to me mans that I need to build my own life and don't let others interfere or ruin what I have. Also, that I'm the one who's building my life so I need to make the decisions to make it good and worth living.
3.The poem and video are similar because they both talk about how you need to build your future and have a plan. The similarities they share are they both talk about how you have to use your utensils to build your life/home. Another thing the video and quote have in common is that they both talk about success. How your going to be grateful and do anything for your own success. The video and quote are different because the quote mostly talks about what you want. The quote also talks about how you will acknowledge your failures and then be grateful for your success. The video mostly talks about how your gonna build your life and how much your gonna put into it. It also talks about whatever you do your either going to affect your life or make it better because your living your own life and your creating your life as it goes by. The video also talks about how you will live the life that you build and if you do not like how you are living then do something about it to change it. The last thing is it talks about any shortcuts you take you are destroying your life and making it average.
4.The message of the poem and video summarized is that you live in the life you create. So you need to make adjustments, change behavior, do anything to make your life great. You need to be the best and want the best. Being average is something nobody wants to be so use your abilities and your special qualities to change it. Change anything in your life that you do not like and make it higher than average. You are going to live in the life you build make it a legacy. Know your failures and fix them, nobody else is going to fit it for you. Be on the track to greatness and make great decisions.
5. An area in my life I would like to make a change in is my life at school and at home. What I mean by this is I want to improve my Math grade and all my other grades. I want to have all A plus and 4.0 or higher.
Delete6. I believe that if I actually changed this area in my life I would be so much happier. The way It would look like me having to study before tests/quizzes. I would need to study for hours and do it right. Also I would have to talk to the teaches to see what I am missing and if it is possible I could ask for extra credit. Another thing I can do is go to tutoring or join clubs at school that will help me. Also I can go to places where I'm not distracted when I am doing my homework or studying. The last thing I could do is do more than I have to do it could earn extra points. If I actually do this I think I would have a 4.0 or higher instead of a 3.7. This will help me go into my dream university.
7. The message in the video and poem matter because they both talk about how the "real life" is going to be. For example the video talks about making your own decisions and whatever you do your gonna live with it that's basically life when your an adult. The poem says what tog want for your future. Also it matters because they are giving you a glimpse at what the world us gonna be so try now so it could be easier later. Another reason why this matters is because they are tips to help you succeed. Also it's masticating you to not be average it's motivating you to be the best and do the best. Another reason why it matters is because it tells you if you don't like something from your life, your work, your body, your house...then change it and do something about it. I believe this was really powerful because most people if you don't like something they would just say it won't hurt you. But ET is telling you to make a change. I would believe ET dice he told his story about how he was homeless and he made decisions and changes to get out of that lifestyle. The last reason why this poem and video matters is because they are really good resources when you need tips on life for decision making and change and how to build.
I can apply the principles from the poem and video to my life to make it better by using all the tips in the video. I can start making good decisions that will improve my life. I can also stop taking shortcuts to things. ET says that taking shortcuts makes you average, I don't want to be average I want to be the best version of myself that I can be. I also can give my all in whatever I do. Also I could do everything I do how I love because I am creating my life and I am gonna live in it. Another thing is since I am gonna live in the reality that I build I am gonna make good decisions and take my time. I am also going to use all my utensils meaning all my resources and things that will help me. The other thing I can do to make my life better is be honest with myself, see what I need to improve. If I know something is average I can change it to make it how I like. The last thing is do what I can so I can live a phenomenal life.
2. Based upon my experience this means that everybody should always aim for success instead of being average. Staying average can make you lose you job, your house, and your family because no one wants just average. Give your all, give that 120 percent into what you do because that is the reality you will live in. You live what you build and if you don't like it, rebuild and fix it to what you want your life to be and stop crying about it.
ReplyDelete3.The video and quote are similar because they both show a passion to move forward instead of staying where they are at in life. Both also talk about creating a great legacy for themselves and building what they want in their lives. A third comparison is when the quote states "I am running to win", this shows that he is trying his hardest. When ET states in the video "Gladiators approach, embrace, and dominate the pain", which shows me that being above average will get you something better in life. They both show how they are doing more in life to be better than they already are. In a way they are different is the quote is straight telling you what he/she wants to do in their life and ET tells a story that had a great moral story that will teach his viewers to more than average. When E.T talks about his story he refers to building your own house, which means that whatever choice you make is building your reality that your currently living in. The quote is stating about running to win a race but there is no life lesson to learn from but simply just tells the reader what they are aiming for.
4. To summarize the Quote it has the title "Who am I" and starts off saying "I know who I am and I am special and Unique" which shows the positive mindset the writer had when creating this quote. It also states he/she will pursue greatness, creating a thought to the reader that they will work to be the best they can be. A third line that the quote said that caught my eye is "I will knowledge my failures and I will be grateful for my success", this line tells me as a reader that realizing what you might have done better in your failing will get you a better aim for success. The author also says that "I will use my talents and abilities to create a great legacy, I am on a track to greatness". This specific quote shows me that they will do whatever that is possible to achieve their greatness and create a legacy for themselves. To summarize the video E.T starts off telling the viewer that only a gladiator will do whatever it takes to approach, embrace, and dominate the pain to get to the next level. The meaning of this is, is to show the viewer that only the "Gladiators" will get to where they want to be in life because most average people will be broken down and give up. To support in further what he is talking about he tells a story of a old man who builds houses, wanted to retire so he left his work to his apprentice, and so he told his apprentice to build a house for him. While the old man left somewhere, he knew the apprentice had the skills but since he wasn't there to watch over him the apprentice decided to slack off and use the shortcuts. Once the old man came back after 6 months, he looked at the house but did not say anything because he knew that the house was average and the apprentice did not give all his effort toward the house. Instead of getting mad, all he said was "here is the keys to your new house" and as the apprentice was surprised asking why, the old man said "You made it so you live in it." This story shows a message to the viewer that you create where you live in, such as when you make decisions you create the world around you and you live in it.
5. An area in my life that I would like to change is my school life. An example of what would change is my grades higher than they were before. A goal would be a 4.0 in this change of my school life.
Delete6. If I actually changed this part in my life it would look like me getting an A+ like if it was nothing for a hard assignment. Another example of me changing this part in my life is having atleast a 4.0 whenever I check my powerschool. For me it would look like 100 percent in all my classes, without a doubt that I am a scholar. To make this change I would have to work hard and play hard. This means that I would study hard and when doing my work, I would give it my all to earn that grade I want. Also I would have to ignore the distractions in class such as my friends, in order to finish my work I must wait to talk to them until I am done because I want to make that grade I want. I'll also have to spend some of my extra time toward my school work and do any extra credit to boost my grade. Finally I would need to place my phone away and other electronics from me so there will be no temptations around me and I can pay attention to my work.
7. Both the quote and video matter to me because they show something I can learn from. I learned from the video that everything you do in life, you will have to live in it, which means that every choice you make to create the world right now is how you live. A second lesson to the video I learned is that if you don't like something about your life that you could just rebuild it into what you want it to be. The video also stated that only the "gladiators" will be able to embrace, oveecome, and dominate the pain while others will give up to the pain. What I learned from this is that only the strongest will be able to dominate the pain that will make them reach the next level. In the quote the lesson in it is to realize that you are special and you can make yourself better without anybody else's help as long as you reach for greatness. Your the only one that can create your legacy and your track to greatness while using your talents and abilities. You are "running to win" according to the quote to also mean that you are going strong, instead of just slowly getting there by a pace average people would.
2. Based upon my experience, this means to me that effort that you put in is what makes you up. For example if I try my best at everything then everything will go perfect. It's not that you are a victim to things that happens to you, it's what comes from your effort.
ReplyDelete3. The video and quote have some similarities and many differences. Their similarities are how they both talk about effort that is put in life. They differ because the video tells a story and the quote didn't. The story was about how a home designer built a house and did not give it his best effort and made many shortcuts. At the end, the home designer had to live in the house that he built for the man. The quote just talked about hope someone is going to put their best effort into their life. He/she says that putting in the work for themselves defined who they were as a person.
4. To summarize the video, the video showed that whatever you put in you will get back. Meaning that if you put in average, then average is what you will get back. The video referred this to life and tells how it is applied to people in their life. To summarize the quote, the quote tells how much effort someone would put in life. It talks about how they're going to use the talents to make the best out of their life.
5. An area that I would like to make a change in is my procrastination. I want to prevent myself from doing it so I can succeed in the things I work on. Changing this part of my life will help me a lot and so I will try my best.
6. If I actually changed this area of my life then it would help me in many ways. One way it could help me is by making me complete assignments on time. Turning them in will get me a good grade. Therefore, having this change will make me go on a easier path to success. Another way it helps me succeed is how it puts a lot of less stress into completing work.
Working on assignments takes a lot of time and work. This is why it is stressful when I try to work on them. Procrastinating makes it even worse because I get lazy to complete stuff. This is why I need to sat a time and make sure I work on them. Finish it early would prevent the stress from building up.
7. The message in the video and quote matter to me because it makes me it makes me realize a lot of things. It made me realize how people get what they get because of the decisions they make. People should stop complaining about their lives and stop feeling bad about themselves. They should for something about and make the better out of their life. They should also try their best at everything they do.
I can apply this to my life by trying my best at school. I'm a result of the effort I put in so I will make my best effort. It will not be easy but I have to at least try to do it. If not the I well just end up with with the results of my effort. If i dint have any effort at all, then I won't have anything at all. This what I can use to motivate me to do things.
2- Based upon my experience this means that you have to make your best effort when you build your house. When You build the house, it will be considered your house because you built it and you put effort in it. The house that you created will be your house until you decide to give it an upgrade.

One of my family members would come back and protect us instead of leaving us because our family needs protection if a scary situation happens. That family member would help us have a better living and in a safe environment instead of a dangerous environment. If this change would actually happen we would not deal with stress, we would be happy. This change means to me because I do not want next couple of years to be full of stress over one family member that does not to be there for us.
I wish we can change our life by turning horrible things to great things. We need the great life because my family wants to be happy just like how they wanted it to be before the negative problems came with some people. I wish everything was like it was couple years ago but I have to think about my dreams for the future. My future dreams are important than my life right now. When you want to make a change, you have to think about it really well so see if this change can work for you.

But then again, they are both different in their own ways. The poem discusses the characteristics that you need to create a great legacy and put yourself on the track to greatness. In the other hand the video is telling a story that Les Brown told about how a young construction worker was told to build a beautiful home for his boss, because he was retiring and wanted a home to live in. The construction worker started to be lazy, go to work late, and used the cheap products, he was giving an average effort. His boss came back and gave him the keys to his new home.
